Trumbull County Educational Service Center in conjunction with

PsychEd Workshops and Ashland University present:

Trauma-Informed Care (TIC): A Guide for Classroom Teachers,
Counselors, School Psychologists, Social Workers and Administrators

This trauma-informed care (TIC) workshop is designed for professionals who want to gain an understanding of
TIC, discover how trauma impacts learning and behavior, and learn how to establish safety and prevent re-
traumatization by implementing a school and districtwide approach.
Trauma and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) negatively impact over four million children and
adolescents each year. In this workshop, the causes and effects of trauma and PTSD will be examined to help
educators and all caregivers recognize and provide effective interventions for students suffering from trauma.
Participants will learn the impact of trauma on psycho-emotional stability, social development, impulse control,
focusing skills and academic performance. Concepts that will be reviewed and discussed include trauma-
informed treatment principles (n=16), dissociation, hyper-vigilance, traumatic/emotional memories, symptoms
of trauma, the triune brain, trauma psychophysiology, safety and preventing re-traumatization, collaborative
relationships and therapeutic bonding, mindfulness and relaxation, school violence, crisis intervention, PTSD-
DSM-V profile, case studies, historical trauma, implementing a TIC program and more.
